Morning assembly on Wednesday 6 September at Derby Grammar Junior School was devoted to six Year 6 pupils who pitched to become Head Boy for 2017-18 academic year.

The dramatic hustings-style assembly saw presentations delivered with panache, rallying supporters to vote for them. One candidate even had a custom-made campaign T-Shirt.

After listening to all candidates the Junior School pupils were invited to vote for their preferred candidate and drop the slip in to the ballot box. Mrs Reynolds, Acting Head, watched all candidates present. She said: “I was most impressed and I think we may have Derby Grammar School’s next MP amongst those six boys.”

The winning candidate was announced at Speech Day on Thursday 7 September. Congratulations to Jai who is our new Junior School Head Boy.
