In English this term, Year 4 are looking at newspaper articles and their main features, such as clever headlines, writing from different perspectives and summarising the main events.

Before starting to write their own articles, the whole class has learnt an example text about Little Red Riding Hood off-by-heart. They have recited this in class, along with actions, which helps them to remember the key features.

Mrs Jackson, Year 4 class teacher, says: “Incorporating actions into storytelling really helps the boys to remember the main points. We have had great fun re-telling the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, and before this we worked on Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Shouts, growls and laughter have been echoing around Junior School as we’ve been acting out the stories. The whole class are looking forward to beginning to write their own articles, putting into practice what we have learnt so far.”
