Our Year 11 GCSE Geographers spent a day in Stratford-upon-Avon recently to undertake analysis of the town’s leisure facilities for young people.

The task forms part of the data collection exercise for the GCSE paper so that the pupils can talk about the process of carrying out the survey, collecting and analysing the results, and can reflect on their experience in thier examination.

Throughout the day they collected land use data, such as tourist-related shops, leisure-related and recreation-related land use. Their questionnaire asked locals about their opinions on Stratford-upon-Avon and the leisure activities currently available to ascertain what it offers, and whether they are focused on 16 year olds.

The day was a great success, with all having fun alongside the serious work of the day. The early results indicate there is not much available within the town for this age group, but the full results are now being analysed.
