Where will you find a Master Chocolatier who created Will and Kate’s wedding cake, two sisters who are mad about curry and an entrepreneur who’s spotted a niche for healthy pet treats? At Derby Grammar School’s Food Fayre on Saturday 17 March.

Now in its fifth year, the Food Fayre has become a regular event in the School calendar and year on year draws more and more visitors to discover delicious food and drink from across the region.

Barry Colenso is a Master Chocolatier who started his career in London. His past roles have included Head of Patisserie at the Savoy Hotel. It was here that he created and presented the Queen’s Mother with her 85th Chocolate birthday cake.

He was later approached by McVitie’s Cake Company to help develop and create the Chocolate Wedding cake for Prince William and Catherine’s Wedding in 2011. Food Fayre guests will be able to taste and savour some of his delicious chocolate creations.

Nilam and Veena are the ‘Spice Sisters’ whose passion for curry has led them to launch Curry On Cooking which brings you ‘currylicious’ spice kits which are low in fat, free from sugar, gluten, dairy, additives and preservatives. The smells from this stall will certainly get your taste buds tingling.

And don’t forget about that special pet in your life. Lucy from AniBake will be selling her healthy dog treats which use the most natural ingredients and which are sourced locally in Derbyshire wherever possible. Her chief taster Colin, and his apprentice Maurice, have given all the treats their seal of approval. Don’t worry, they are Lucy’s dogs!

Caroline Euston, Chair of Derby Grammar School’s PTA, and organiser of the event says: “We have over 25 stalls exhibiting at the Fayre which means there will be something for everyone.

As well as the stalls we will be entertained by Derby Grammar School’s band and choir, be treated to live cooking demonstrations and we have a baking competition which is open to all. And our stunning school will be open all day for visitors to take a guided tour.

The PTA organises events throughout the year. The Food Fayre is one of our most popular events with a growing reputation. We are pleased to see many stallholders and visitors returning year on year.”

Derby Grammar School’s Food Fayre takes place on Saturday 17 March between 10am and 3pm. Entrance is just £1.00 for adults.
