The Derby Grammar School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) are excited to be working with Sam Cochrane is his capacity as Deputy Head Prefect, and PTA representative, during the 2018/19 academic year.

The PTA organises fundraising activities throughout the school year which fund projects over and above those that the school already provides. The role of PTA representative is vital in capturing pupil’s ideas and requests through School Councils and, where possible, bringing them to life through PTA funding. The postholder also plays an active part at events and in PTA meetings.

Recent projects have included new picnic benches for the grounds at School, playground equipment for Junior School, basketball hoops for Senior School, gymnastics equipment and a defibrillator for Rykneld Sports Centre, as well as a major contribution towards the purchase of our new minibus.

Caroline Euston, Chair of the PTA, said: “The PTA would like to thank the outgoing Deputy Head Prefect, Sean Pearce, for his hard work and dedication in his role as PTA representative over the past year. He has brought forward valuable suggestions and projects. We welcome Sam in to the role for the forthcoming academic year and are very much looking forward to working with him.”

The PTA’s next fundraising events include the Summer Fete on Friday 15 June, and the Roaring Twenties Summer Ball on Saturday 30 June.
