Derby Grammar School is celebrating top exam results after 100% of students achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 or above.

27% of grades are at 8, 9 and A*, a total of 67% of grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics are at 7,8 and 9 and  61% of grades in STEM subjects are at grades 7,8 and 9. Thirty-eight per cent of grades in Maths are 8 or 9 grades.

Dr Ruth Norris, head teacher at Derby Grammar School, said: “Huge congratulations to our GCSE pupils today. Their success is a tribute to their hard work and motivation over the last two years. There has been much hype in the world of education, not to mention in the media, about the new more rigorous GCSEs that are now in place.

“However, our pupils have risen to the challenge, achieving an excellent proportion of the very top grades, including the new super grade 9. Staff and parents alike at Derby Grammar applaud our 2018 cohort and we look forward to supporting the pupils’ continued success in our thriving Sixth Form.”
