Junior School and Year 7 have been exploring all types of instruments in the Instrumental Showcase this afternoon, from guitars, cellos and clarinets, to trombones, drums, piano and the voice.
All instruments can be learnt in School, taught by our expert peripatetic teachers. We also offer LAMDA lessons which enhance pupils’ confidence in public speaking and performance. Mrs Simpson told the boys about her classes, the opportunities for performance and the benefits of LAMDA.
School runs many clubs for pupils who enjoy music and performance, including Junior Band, Junior Choir and Drama club in the Junior School, and Swing Band, Senior Choir, String Band and Guitar Club in Senior School. We even have a brand new Samba Club starting this term for our drummers. We work closely with Hot House Music and many of our musicians join the various Hot House bands too, in fact some are joining them on their tour to New Orleans in the autumn.
After a short showcase of each instrument the Hall exploded in to a riot of noise as the pupils tried out the instruments that had caught their attention, kindly supplied by Foulds Music.
