Junior School boys have been proudly wearing their Blue Peter Diamond badges since they returned to School this term.
We recently celebrated our Junior School pupils achieving their Blue Peter badges, and as badge holders this meant that they were also eligible to apply for a limited edition Blue Peter Diamond badge.
Designed by famous British fashion designer Henry Holland, each boy had to draw and colour a design in the diamond that included their favourite Blue Peter moment.
The entries were co-ordinated by Year 5 teacher Mrs Hamilton and all were all sent off to the Blue Peter office at the end of last term. Over the summer the special deliveries of Diamond badges started arriving at each boy’s home.
Tom based his design on magic which was inspired by him watching Issy Simpson on Blue Peter’s 5000th show, while Ali designed his badge based on his favourite episode which involved presenter Radzi water-skiing.
Hamza said: “It was so cool to have a letter come through the post addressed to me. I don’t get many. I was very excited to open it and have been wearing my diamond badge ever since.”
Mrs Hamilton said: “The joy on the boys’ faces as they showed me their badges when they returned to School was lovely to see. The fact that they arrived through the post in an envelope addressed to them made it even more exciting.
They’ve all worked hard on their badge applications – it isn’t guaranteed that just because an application is submitted a badge is awarded. It is a pleasure to see them wearing their badges proudly on their blazers.
