The new academic year has seen a number of changes in roles amongst the pastoral team here at Derby Grammar School. Our fresh-faced pastoral team will swing into action from January:
- Mr Critchlow will bring his experience and expertise to take up post as Head of Upper School
- Mr Benjafield will bring experience and insight from his previous pastoral responsibilities at his former school as our new Head of Lower Years (Years 8 & 9)
- Mrs Charnock steps in to her new role as Head of Year 7. This new post focuses on ensuring the smooth transition into Senior School for our pupils as well as our newcomers.
They all join Miss Stebbings who began her new role as Head of Sixth Form back in September.
The pastoral team changes also mean some change in our Heads of House. Mr Clark has been appointed Head of Blackton House where he looks forward to continuing its winning streak, and we will soon be announcing the new Head of Atkinson House which was previously led by Mr Critchlow.
We thank our colleagues who have served the school so well in their various capacities. Mr Fletcher retires from Blackton House on a high note while Mr Clark and Mrs Charnock leave big shoes to fill in Lower and Upper School.
In addition, we can announce our Bursar, Miss Jameson, has recently retired after a very long and distinguished career at DGS. She is replaced for an interim period by Ms Debbie Fisher who is already an integral part of our community. And finally, Mr Lakritiz is takes on the role of Academic Data Manager with immediate effect.
