Dr Norris, Head of Derby Grammar School, has announced exciting changes to her leadership team which modernise and fully equip the school for the future.
The school leadership team will now include an Assistant Head Academic – Mr Paul Lakritz, an Assistant Head Pastoral – Miss Karen Stebbings, and a Director of Co-curriculum – Mr Paul Hilliam. All take up their roles from September 2019.
The new structure enables the school to specialise in the delivery of excellence in these critical areas of the school and completes the leadership team. Alongside the Head the team also includes Mrs April Sly in her exciting new expanded remit as Head of Primary School. The new Infants School opens this coming September.
Mr Lakritz is known for his high academic standards and tremendous success within the DT department. This academic year he took on the role of Academic Data and Curriculum Manager, a role in which he has impressed with his ability to drive whole school academic results. He will bring his expertise, drive, enthusiasm and inspiration to ensure that our results continue to go from strength to strength.
Miss Stebbings is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Head of Sixth Form, roles which she will also maintain moving forward. An exceptional pastoral leader with vast experience of mentoring the wellbeing and personal development of our pupils throughout the age range, she will bring her skills and expertise to ensure that DGS maintains its progressive commitment to the pastoral life of our community.
As Senior Master, Mr Hilliam has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to the full breadth of life enjoyed by pupils at DGS. Beyond his own superb classroom practice, his passion truly lies with the importance of co-curricular opportunities.
His new role will enable him to fully specialise in this increasingly demanding area as well as looking at expanding and enhancing our offering.
The leadership changes are implemented following the recent decision of current Deputy Head, Mrs Lesley Reynolds, to move on after 24 years’ service to the school.
