We’ve always known how dedicated Jake in Year 11 is to his work for St John’s Ambulance – but now he’s really stepped up by dying his hair green for them!
Jake, who is already St John’s Regional Cadet of the Year, is now raising funds to continue the invaluable work they do.
He said: ‘Although most of my Cadet of the Year events and projects have been cancelled or put on hold due to the current climate, I’ve been working hard putting remote sessions and projects in place for my Region.
I run weekly sessions to just short of 100 cadets from my region teaching first aid with the help of my District Cadets of the Year, and we are running regular subject nights to continue our cadets development within the organisation.
One of my projects (Dance for East) even got featured on the BBC National COVID-19 feed on the BBC website!”
Unfortunately, due to his age, Jake is unable to join his colleagues who have been deployed on Ambulance Crews and to the Nightingale Hospitals, but he is working hard to find other opportunities to be able to help people.
These include administrative duties at satellite blood bank clinics and registering with the Royal Derby Hospital as a volunteer. He’s crossing his fingers that he’ll be able to get out there and help.
