Rachel Appleby left Derby Grammar School in 2012. She went on to join Taylor Wimpey (Midlands), one of the UK’s largest residential developers, as a Marketing Executive. They also sponsored her to undertake a degree in Business Management studying part time whilst working, in which she achieved first class honours. In 2018 she joined Persimmon Homes as a Marketing Analyst, working on their national marketing activity.
“Derby Grammar School certainly prepared me for life in the construction industry, which is so male dominated! On leaving school I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do, and initially began a Children’s Nursing degree. I quickly realised this wasn’t for me, and despite the fact I had left School, my teachers really supported me and gave me lots of useful advice on what to do next.”
Favourite memory: I don’t think I can pick a specific one – I just seemed to laugh all the time, and I met people who are still my closest friends.
