About the event
Our annual Summer Fete takes place straight after school on Friday 21 June.
This is one of our most important fundraising events. Come along for games, our great Summer Raffle which has a fantastic selection of prizes on offer, a variety of local stalls, plant sale and musical performances from our talented students.
The PTA will be working hard to quench your thirst at the PTA bar. Who can resist an ice-cold Pimms on a lovely sunny day! Don’t worry about what to get for dinner, our BBQ will keep you and the family fed throughout the night with hot dogs and burgers, including vegetarian options. We will also be serving tea and coffee and, with a little help from our pupils and parents, home-made cakes too!
Last year we were blessed with amazing weather. Let’s hope for the same this year! Everyone welcome – entry is just £1.
Throwback to summer fete 2018
A note from Caroline Euston, Chair of the PTA
As I write this note, the sun is shining, and I can’t help but wonder if summer is already here. With that in mind I thought I’d take this opportunity to tell you about this year’s Summer Fete, being held as usual on the beautiful school grounds of Rykneld Hall on the evening of Friday 21st June.
What’s to see and do?
There will be a variety of local stalls as well as fantastic fundraising stalls run by the pupils. We are welcoming back Bugs ‘n’ Bones with their collection of exotic animals, which is always a popular attraction. It seems that bouncing is still the in thing, so why not have a go on the inflatable assault course. Or you could try to beat the goalie with the Soccerstars UK team.
Back by popular demand is the plant stall. Whether you’re a budding Monty Don or a blooming Alan Titchmarsh, look out your gardening gloves and grab yourself a plant or two. Our wonderful music department and talented pupils will be entertaining us throughout the afternoon with live music. This year, we welcome Bex’ Street Dance demo featuring our very own DGS pupils, watch out for their performance in the hall.

How can you help?
It is one of our most important fundraising events. To assist us with our fundraising efforts we are holding a Summer Raffle with a fantastic selection of prizes on offer. We welcome raffle prizes that you may wish to donate. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Raffle tickets will be coming home with your son/daughter. Please return all monies and/or unwanted tickets back to school with completed stubs by Monday 17th June. Extra raffle tickets are available from reception. The raffle will be drawn on the evening of Friday 21st June during the Summer Fete. Details of all winners will be published during w/c 24th June.
For those with a sweet tooth – the PTA refreshment stall will be serving tea and coffee and with a little help from yourselves, cakes too! We need cake donations from you to sell on the day – so dust off your rolling pin* and bring cake donations into school before mid-day on Friday 21st June June.
*or, like I do, buy them 😉
If you have an hour spare to help and would like to get involved, please get in touch with me email@example.com. Many hands make light work and I can guarantee you’ll enjoy it. The more helpers we have, the more money we can raise.
I hope you agree there will be something for everyone. The Summer Fete is one of my favourite events of the year. In fact, it’s where we first decided DGS was the right school for George prior to him joining Y3. Such a great atmosphere and a huge sense of togetherness which helps make this a very special event.
