30 pupils, parents and staff of Derby Grammar School gathered on Sunday May 7 in Darley Park for the Colour Blast Dash which raises funds for child bereavement charity, The Laura Centre, in Vernon Street.
Boys taking part were Daniel Kitchen, Danny Bunt, James Briggs, Lucas Brandon, Mathew Jackson, Ollie Genders, Tom Miln, Dhrav Malhi, Teo Panayotov, Harrrison Green and Ollie Yerbury. All ran the 2.5k race, apart from Daniel Kitchen and James Briggs who took part in the 5k. James came in second overall in the 5k run, and was the first child to finish.
Throughout the race they were bombarded with showers of colourful powder, so all ended up covered from head to toe.
Liz Jackson, year 4 teacher, said: “This is our third year at the Colour Blast Dash and it’s something that the School supports. Last year we raised nearly £400. Everyone loves it – especially the mess.”
It was a beautiful morning on Darley Park. Well done to everyone who ran, and thank you to those who came along to support.
