Each year we stage a whole-school production, whether it be a musical, pantomime or play. Everyone can get involved, from taking on an acting role through to creation of scenery, lighting and sound support. It is a chance for all to shine, wherever their talents lie.
Our most recent musical was Billy Elliot, in fact we were one of the first schools in the country to gain a licence for this. Others have included Journey’s End, Pygmalion, We Will Rock You and Oliver. We also enjoy a good pantomime – the December 2017 production of Snow White raised money for our Tanzania project, and this year we will be performing Aladdin.
Junior School takes part in a regular Music and Drama showcase, and there is the annual Primary School production which always plays to a packed house.
Recent performances have included Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies, Jungle Book, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. Throughout the school year there many opportunities to develop and celebrate talents in performing arts.
We run a drama club in both Primary and Senior School and regularly enter competitions such as the Derby Arts Festival. LAMDA classes are available to all pupils.
