There is much more to life in the Senior School than the academic curriculum. We pride ourselves in offering incredible opportunities which help shape the character of our pupils, preparing them for future success.
Pastoral care
Our small size means we know each pupil individually.
The Form Tutor forms the basis of our pastoral care system. Their role is to develop a detailed knowledge of each pupils’ development and attainment, as well as nurturing and providing them with a close-knit support network of both peers and staff.
The size of the School and the fact that he will stay with the same group throughout his time there provides security and continuity. Everyone knows everyone and the pupils are treated as individuals

Clubs
Pupils have the opportunity to join a wealth of activity clubs, ranging from Duke of Edinburgh and Archery club, through to our Greenpower Formula 24 and 24+ racing team.
Charitable work is an important part of school life. We focus our activities around supporting Gedeli B School in Tanzania, with Sixth Formers visiting to teach the Gedeli pupils, build vital classrooms and support facilities and then taking part in a safari or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro each summer.
Closer to home we work closely with the Derbyshire YMCA to help fight local teenage homelessness.
With our own facilities at Rykneld Sports Centre and school sports of rugby, cricket and hockey, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with sport either for pleasure, or as part of a competitive team.
