Our bursary scheme promotes accessibility and entry for pupils from all backgrounds. Bursaries are means-tested and provide financial assistance toward the cost of fees.
Bursaries are available to pupils in Senior School and Sixth Form. In exceptional circumstances we may consider offering a bursary to a Junior School pupil.
Investing in a private education for your child is an important financial commitment and one that some families may not be able to fully contribute to. Derby Grammar School has a small fund which it uses to support families who can pay the majority of fees but need some help with the remainder. All bursary applications are means-tested for eligibility.
For your child to be considered for a bursary, we ask that you indicate this on the registration form. A Bursary application form will then be sent to you which takes into account all financial circumstances, including assets and investments. The completed form should be submitted with any relevant supporting information. A home visit may be undertaken and all bursary awards are reviewed annually to take into account any changes to circumstances. As no awards can be made after an offer is made, we encourage families who feel they may be eligible for some bursarial support to contact the Registrar well in advance
We keep our school fees low in the Primary School and therefore a bursary is only available to qualifying families of children in the Senior School or Sixth Form.
We offer a sibling discount of 10% on tuition fees to the youngest child where there are two siblings. Where three or more siblings attend the School, there is a 15% discount on the tuition fees for the youngest child.
Fee discounts from external sources
There are a limited number of educational and charitable trusts that provide financial assistance with school fees. Further information about these trusts can be found online at: www.educational-grants.org
